Epson has begun shipping samples of the S2D13P04, a new multi-camera analog interface IC for automotive applications. The new Epson S2D13P04 IC can combine images from multiple sides of the vehicle, helping to eliminate blind spots and enabling a higher level of driving safety. Equipped with four NTSC/PAL decoders, the Epson S2D13P04 can be connected to up to four analog cameras and concurrently decode the four video channels. Images from each camera are synchronized to output a digital signal with a stable frame rate to reduce the loads of imaging processing LSI. plus, incorporating four decoders lowers system costs by reducing the total number of essential system components.

Sanyo Solar Parking Lot recharges electric hybrid bicycle batteries and illuminates LED parking lot lights in Japan

Sanyo has completed installation of two Solar Parking Lots, incorporating solar panels and lithium-ion battery systems, and provision of 100 electric hybrid bicycles, eneloop bike in Setagaya, Tokyo Japan. The Solar Parking Lot is a completely independent and clean system eliminating the use of fossil fuels, and the clean ability generated from the solar panels installed on the roof is stored to be used to recharge the electric hybrid bicycle batteries and illuminate the LED parking lot lights. The 100 eneloop bike units provided at the three locations will be used as community bicycles by a wide range of citizens residing in and outside Setagaya.

By combining HIT solar panels with lithium-ion battery systems Sanyo’s Solar Parking Lot enables recharging the electric hybrid bicycles without any commercial capability source, even at night or on a rainy day. The lithium-ion battery system additionally features AC capability outlets that can be used to potential external equipment during an emergency. In addition, the installed system incorporates a DC charger.
