New Game Lets YOU Land a Plane on the Hudson

January 31, 2009

A new game called “Hero of the Hudson” challenges you to try your hand at a Hudson River landing. Can you do what US Airways pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger did (minus, of course, the pressure of lives at risk and realities of actual flight)?

iPhone Becomes a Noise Meter

January 31, 2009

iPhone is a device with practically unlimited possibilities and potential. Well, the hardware of iPhone is brilliant, however, what makes it a real wonder device is the abundance of applications and software that have been pouring in for the past several months.

A new cool application called Noise Meter transforms your iPhone into a portable noise meter. The application is marginally simple. You start it and next tap the big round button and voila.

What I liked about that application is that it gives you human understandable knowledge. whether you are a pro, you know what a dB means but what about mere mortars? So, the application simply gives you the level of noise in plain English. Namely, noise levels are grouped as pursues:

0-20: Quiet, suitable for living and sleeping
20-40: Comfortable, suitable for office
40-60: Busy, suitable for business
60-80: Bustling, suitable for traffic
80-100: Noisily, suitable for factory
>100: Terrible, don’t stay for health

As soon as I downloaded the application, I started analyzing different places. Believe me, that application is very useful and exciting and best of all, it’s absolutely free.

iPod finally in bath on The MP3 Mirror

January 31, 2009

Music, thanks to lots of modern-day portable MP3 players, can stay with us wherever we go and as far as we go from our home PCs. However there are still places unreachable for digital music and they are closer than you might have imagined. The territory of our baths, where all the electronic gadgets and gizmos are banned, is at the same moment precisely the place where we want them to be. lengthy and boring minutes while staying in the bath are best for watching TV or listing to the music. But waterproof TV will cost a fortune, so here is a way out as Antonio Lupi sees it. that is a mirror, equipped with an iPod. Finally, we can use it safely in the bath!

$10 Prototype Portable Computer

$10 Prototype Portable Computer

Just how cheap do you think computer prices can get? Apparently Indian officials are excited about showing off a new portable computer that will assemble the OLPC laptop look as though it was a Ferrari price-wise. The brains behind that project claim that their portable computer costs approximately $20 to manufacture, but with the advent of mass production, that cost could potentially be slashed by up to half. Apart from the extremely tempting price tag, very little (or none, rather) data is available concerning that device. We’re pretty certain of one thing though – chances are you won’t be able to find Windows XP running on that, as the license alone will be worth more than the entire portable computer. The Indian government is looking to form that available within half a year’s day – will it affect the OLPC’s standing in the world next?

Zumba Voice Recognition Phone

Zumba Voice Recognition Phone

What you read here is touted to be the first fully accurate voice recognition phone in the world, better known as the Zumba courtesy of IA Technology. The Zumba is accompanied by a card-like carrying case/base station, and it can fit into an earpiece-shaped device for you to carry out a decent conversation hands-free, carrying out all your commands through the use of voice. No notion on how the technology works though apart from strong suspicions that it is linked to a convinced kind of cloud system, pretty much in tune with what’s happening in Google’s iPhone voice app. The Zumba is tipped for a release day before the year is by, and we’re extremely curious to see how it will affect the cell phone industry. One thing’s for certain – our hearing impaired friends will definitely give that a pass as a communications tool of choice.
