Super Talent 128GB SSD Going Cheap

Super Talent 128GB SSD Going Cheap

Super Talent has done the unthinkable - it is now offering a 128GB SSD drive for a mere $299, which connects via a SATA II interface while supporting read and write speeds of 100MB/s and 40MB/s, respectively. At a $2.33/GB price point, that is as cheap as it gets - for SSDs, at least. Well, I forsee future netbooks going the SSD way while offering capacity that’s comparable to 160GB hard drives or more, and there will definitely be more humans working on modifying their own netbooks by replacing their hard drives with Super Talent’s offer.

Broadcom Integrates Wi-Fi In GPS Chip

Broadcom Integrates Wi-Fi In GPS Chip

Broadcom is working on merging Wi-Fi connectivity into its range of GPS navigation chips, allowing not only cell phones but other similarly equipped devices to use the local network for positioning. It does so by using known Wi-Fi access points, triangulating them into a rough map location whenever GPS connectivity becomes spotty or unavailable, helping one generate a GPS lock much faster in urban canyons, indoors or tunnels. The iPhone 3G is one of the first few handsets that utilize that feature, so it would be interesting to see other mobile manufacturers get on with the program.

Pedometer To Hit Nintendo Products?

Pedometer To Hit Nintendo Products?

Word has it that Nintendo is currently working on a pedometer, although it is really hard to see how one is going to include a pedometer into everyday gameplay. Having one that connects to the DS would be nice, since the DS is portable and all, but judging by the design of that thing, it doesn’t look as though it will come with the connectors to hook up via the DS’ Slot-2. Perhaps that will be yet another fitness-related game accessory for the Wii, but that’ll only be super effective whether you’re walking on a treadmill or something similar, right?
